Australia's success at Aachen continued on Sunday with Edwina and Itot du Chateau finishing 2nd in the Grand Prix.

First place went to the Irish rider, Denis Lynch, with the Hanoverian Landkönig son, Lantinus. The pair was clear in the jump-off in 55.26 seconds.
"Lantinus is a top class horse. After the oxer we had to take the longer route around the water jump, because we were so fast that I didn't manage the tight turn," commented an elated Lynch.
Edwina jumped clear in the jump-off in a time of 56.34. The 35-year-old came fourth at the FEI World Equestrian Games, Aachen 2006 and ninth in the individual classification at the Olympic Games in Hong Kong with Isovlas Itot du Château.
Edwina told us about her ride performance in Aachen; “Basically I thought the first round was not so technical but very big and the time was not so short which made it easier for 14 clear rounds to come. The 2nd round was very difficult with a quadruple being extremely short with a very wide oxer coming out. The time was very short and the fences were massive.”

“Due to the ground I lost time in one turn which cost me the class. Itot slipped in one turn which made me have to take one more distance that I didn't plan to take. Therefore I was slower than I would have liked and with Denis only being less than a second slower I could have been faster.”

“Compared to other shows the horses travel a lot different on the ground. The distances walk a lot different to how they ride and you really need o know your horses stride. The atmosphere is incredible with over 50000 people in the stadium and live on TV the whole of Europe was watching!”

“I was extremely happy with the way Tot jumped. He had a 4 month break in the beginning of the year and he is now back in form. The courses seemed easy for him though I was disappointed with the ground because this is the reason why I lost my time. But second is not so bad in the biggest show in the world.”

“Next on my schedule is Astral Global Champions Tour 5 star and the Sam Patrick 5 star. Then I leave the week after to Rio and from there maybe Dublin and straight after Valkyries. So not much time to rest. I have been for the last three months every week on a show and I can't wait for a weekend off!”

“One thing I can say is its better to stay home and prepare properly for Aachen than go there unprepared!”

Marcus Ehning's hopes of winning the Grand Prix of Aachen for the first time went up in smoke. His time aboard Noltes Küchengirl was fast enough, the pair completed the course in the best time of 54.12 seconds but the last fence fell down relegating them to third place.
The Belgian rider, Phillippe Le Jeune, came fourth in the jump-off with the Belgian warmblood, Vigo D'Arsouilles. His start had to be delayed in the second round, because his horse lost a shoe while warming up.

Other Australian participants had mixed results at Aachen. In Eventing, Lucinda Fredericks and Headley Britannia incurred some time penalties on the cross-country course, dropping from 2nd to 6th place, while Clayton Fredericks finished 10th with The Frog and was eliminated with Mr. Miller 2. Germany’s Bettina Hoy and Ringwood Cockatoo had a run-out and dropped from 1st to 17th.
In Dressage, both Hayley Beresford (Relampago do Retiro) and Lyndal Oatley (Potifar) were disappointed with their performances in the Grand Prix and Grand Prix Special.
In Vaulting, Krystle Lander finished 18th, 20th, 21st and 23rd in her classes.
