This newsletter is quite short, as it comes straight from the WEG in Aachen.  Access to the web has not always been possible and sending e-mails has been a bit of a nightmare.  I should mention right now that I have passed on a large portion of the “Herograms” received but a number are still to be distributed.
And our thanks to the hard-working National Office staff who have to deal with the sport's business while four of us are away overseas.
More than half of the World Equestrian Games program is now over, and we should all be very pleased with the performances of our participants.
Congratulations to all and particularly to our Bronze medal Eventing Team and our Silver medallist Clayton Fredericks.
We now wish the Jumping team and carriage driver Bob Edwards well in their competitions.  And we hope there is an end to all the rain we have had here.
Please refer to our website for reports on the competition.  Our press officer Melanie Beeby has been doing a great job preparing press releases and other information.
National EFA Awards
We have many volunteers who work tremendously hard at all levels within our sport.  THe EFA has introduced a national award program to acknowledge this effort.
You still have a couple of weeks to nominate members for these awards. The National Board will consider all nominations at its September meeting. Announcements will be made during the Welcome Function of the 2006 National Forum in Melbourne in November.
Insurance
We have already published the 2006-07 “Insurance Packs” for coaches, clubs and associations. The new rates are lower in most categories, especially for small clubs. We are once more able to offer a rebate to all those who are renewing their insurance.
The EFA will need to pay for the rather hefty bill very soon, so to help us with our cash flow, please renew promptly.
Events
Please check the web site calendar for events happening in September. There are a number of FEI-listed events and State and Regional Championships on this month, so please support your sport and attend. I would just like to mention the Bates International Three-Day Event 7 - 10 September at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre, which this year again includes Horse Driving Trials, so go, watch and enjoy good sport.
Supporters and Sponsors
I cannot close without thanking our funding agencies, sponsors and supporters.     In particular, we would like to mention • the Australian Sports Commission, • the Australian Olympic Committee, • Horseland, • Kentucky Equine Research and Ridley Agriproducts, • Horse Deals magazine, and • Aon Risk Management Services.
Make it a good day!
