About EFA National

Our Mission

EFA National was founded with a simple yet powerful mission: to help riders and horse owners everywhere make smarter decisions, through approachable guidance and free tools that make planning feed rations, sizing tack, laying out an arena, and keeping horse care on schedule clearer, more rewarding, and more practical.

We believe that everyone who rides or cares for horses, from first-time owners to seasoned competitors, deserves access to accurate tools, comprehensive resources, and trustworthy guidance. Our platform bridges the gap between confusing routines and confident, well-informed decisions about horse care and health, riding technique, tack and equipment, breeds and temperament, competition, and running a well-managed stable.

Through our free collection of tools, we help riders make informed decisions about feed rations, tack sizing, arena layout, care and turnout scheduling, and the everyday numbers of stable life. Every tool is designed with real-world applicability in mind, tested against the day-to-day realities of keeping and riding horses, and continuously improved based on user feedback. To go deeper, explore The Horse Museum, with galleries on the great breeds, the disciplines of dressage, show jumping, and eventing, the craft of tack, and the long partnership between horse and rider.

Our Story

EFA National emerged from a need we experienced firsthand. While trying to sort through conflicting advice and scattered references, we noticed a common challenge: the lack of accessible, accurate tools for the everyday decisions that come with keeping a horse, working out a feed ration, and making the most of every ride.

Good horsemanship relies heavily on experience and a feel for the horse, which are invaluable. However, a confident rider also benefits from clear answers about how a feed ration breaks down, what size tack fits, how big an arena needs to be, how much footing to order, and how to keep care on schedule. We saw an opportunity to combine well-researched equestrian knowledge with modern tools to help people make confident decisions about every horse in their care.

Our team began developing tools that we wished existed when we kept our first horses. Each calculator and guide was created to solve real problems encountered when planning a ration, fitting a saddle, or setting up a schooling arena. We tested every tool against real-world figures, refined the logic based on feedback, and ensured that the results reflected current, widely accepted equestrian practice.

Today, EFA National serves active users worldwide, from first-time owners to lifelong equestrians. Our tools have helped people plan feed rations, size tack, lay out arenas, order footing, and keep care on schedule, and make more deliberate, confident decisions for their horses.

Our Core Values

Our Expertise

EFA National’s tools and guides are developed and maintained by a team with extensive equestrian experience across multiple areas:

Our team includes experienced riders, instructors, writers, and reviewers who bring years of combined experience to tool development. We regularly consult industry references and trusted experts to ensure our content reflects current best practices. Our content is general informational and educational content, NOT professional veterinary, farrier, nutrition, or safety advice; results vary — always consult a qualified veterinarian, farrier, nutritionist, or instructor for your horse before making decisions.

Looking Forward

The future of horsemanship lies in the intelligent combination of experience and proven know-how with modern tools and clear knowledge. At EFA National, we’re committed to staying at the forefront of this evolution.

Our development roadmap includes expanded tools for feed planning, tack sizing, arena and footing estimating, and care scheduling. We’re also working on multilingual support to serve the global community of riders better, and developing specialized guidance for different disciplines, breeds, and ways of caring for horses more deliberately.

Most importantly, we remain committed to keeping our tools free and accessible. As we grow, we’ll continue to prioritize user needs, ensuring that everyone has access to practical equestrian tools regardless of their budget.
