His father, Aamir Raza Mirza, is a horse breeder and owner of Horsespot Stables, Bangalore. In 2014 he had a narrow escape from death when his horse slipped and fell during cross-country jumping competition in London.

In 2016 he qualified for Olympics after scoring 50 penalty points at Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) as part of selection procedure by Equestrian Federation of India (EFI).

Early Life

I am originally from Bangalore. I was born and brought up there. My parents are both doctors and they were super supportive of my decision to quit my studies and pursue equestrian sport. They knew that is what would make me happy, so they backed me 100%.

I was 10 when I first started riding. My dad used to ride earlier, but he had a bad fall and stopped riding altogether. When I learned about the Olympics, I told my dad that this is something that interested me. Back then, there were hardly any sportsmen who went on to win medals at the Olympics from India in Equestrian sport. So it was pretty difficult for him to understand why this is something I wanted to do as a career choice. But by then he knew that once you put your mind into doing something out of passion for it, you’re sure to succeed!

Fouaad was born on 1st January 1991 in Bengaluru, Karnataka to parents RS Mirza and Rehana Mirza, both of them being doctors by profession. He began riding when he was just two years old and then started training for show jumping when he was 10. His parents were initially against his wish to take up equestrian as a sport but eventually gave him their support after which he moved to England where he trained under the tutelage of John Whitaker and Graham Fletcher with whom he later won his first international medal.

His family has been a great support for him throughout his career and has always helped him out even in the most difficult times. Fouaad considers himself lucky because not many people are fortunate enough to receive such love from their parents like him so he feels grateful towards them every moment of life which keeps motivating him further in whatever work he does or tries to achieve something that makes them proud too.

He is married since January 2018 with Neha Prakash who herself was an Indian National Equestrian Team member until 2009 because she wanted pursue her studies further as well so they both decided mutually agreed upon this decision but now she also trains alongside her husband at intl-level competitions whenever possible due time constraints due to full-time job commitments at present time too which helps keep some balance between family life while pursuing one’s career successfully if not competing again professionally anywhere else other than national level championships only anymore now unfortunately though still definitely happy though together at least!
