Horses are one of the oldest forms of transport. They were domesticated thousands of years ago, in 4000 BC.

The Olympics are over and the athletes have returned to their regular lives. Some will continue to train, while others will abandon their sport or even retire altogether. The idea of a horse being an Olympic athlete might seem absurd at first blush, but in fact there is nothing new about such a concept: as early as 1924, equestrian events were part of the program of the summer games in Paris. Horses have been involved in these competitions ever since then (with one exception—the Los Angeles Olympics).
